Online Education courses are taught in a cohort model, which means you start and finish classes at the same time as our on-campus students. Terms are August – December, January – April, and May – June.
As a distance learner, you will have direct communication with your professors in a one-on-one learning environment, and will be partnered with a mentor-student, just like our on-campus students. Most classes are offered in Moodlerooms, a simple but powerful Learning Management System tool to deliver engaging content and activities to learners in online courses.
We only certify Alabama candidates, and all of our placements are in Alabama schools. Our instructors travel all over the state for field experiences and clinical practice observations.
We offer the following Education programs via Distance Learning:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Secondary English/Language Arts (6-12)
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Secondary General Social Studies (6-12)
It is important that you complete the General Studies coursework before going into the Education courses. A personal 2.75 GPA must be maintained throughout the program.
If you have a Provisional Certificate in a Teaching Field, Judson College Distance Learning offers the required PCTF courses for the Traditional Class B Certificate.
For all requirements for the Provisional Certificate in a Teaching Field, visit the Alabama State Department of Education website and click on “Provisional Certification.”
